<p>Sheila: Hey, Laura! <u>What are you looking at?</u></p>
<p>Laura: Oh, <u>I’m trying to decide between a dictionary and an electronic dictionary</u>.</p>
<p>Sheila: Well, if you buy a dictionary, you’ll have to carry it everywhere . It’s heavy.</p>
<p>Laura: <u>I think an electronic dictionary is a better idea</u>. <u>What do you think of this one</u>?</p>
<p>Sheila: <u>It’s too expensive</u>. How much money have you got for your birthday?</p>
<p>Laura: Not that much. <u>I think I won’t buy anything</u>.</p>

<p>What are you looking at?</p>
<p>-> Sheila asked Laura what she was looking at.</p>
<p><strong>Giải thích: </strong>dùng động từ tường thuật “asked”, câu hỏi dạng -Wh thì giữ nguyên từ để hỏi, lùi thì “are” -> “was”, đổi ngôi “you” -> “she”.</p>

<p>-> Laura said (that) she was trying to decide between a dictionary and an electronic dictionary.</p>
<p><strong>Giải thích: </strong>dùng động từ tường thuật “said”, lùi thì “ ’m” -> “was”, đổi ngôi “I” -> “she”.</p>
<p>I think an electronic dictionary is a better idea. What do you think of this one?</p>
<p>-> Laura said (that) she thought an electronic dictionary was a better idea and asked what Sheila thought of that one.</p>
<p><strong>Giải thích: </strong>(1) dùng động từ tường thuật “said”, lùi thì “think” -> “thought”, “is” -> “was”, đổi ngôi “I” -> “she”.</p>
<p>(2) Dùng động từ tường thuật “asked”, câu hỏi dạng -Wh thì giữ nguyên từ để hỏi, lùi thì “think” -> “thought”, “this” -> “that”.</p>
<p>It’s too expensive.</p>
<p>-> Sheila said (that) it was too expensive.</p>
<p><strong>Giải thích: </strong>dùng động từ tường thuật “said”, lùi thì “ ’s” -> “was”.</p>
<p>I think I won’t buy anything.</p>
<p>-> Laura said (that she thought) she wouldn’t buy anything.</p>
<p><strong>Giải thích: </strong>dùng động từ tường thuật “said”, lùi thì “think” -> “thought”, “won’t” -> “wouldn’t”, đổi ngôi “I”<br />-> “she”.</p>
