<p><strong>Linh:</strong> Yes, that was a great film. I saw it last month.</p>
<p><strong>Nam:</strong> Well, how about the Terminator series? It got the same rating. Have you seen any of them?</p>
<p><strong>Linh:</strong> I don't think so, but I've heard about them. What are they about?</p>
<p><strong>Nam:</strong> The Internet evolves into a powerful A.I., Skynet, and sends its robot warriors after the Connor family.</p>
<p><strong>Linh:</strong> Interesting, but why?</p>
<p><strong>Nam:</strong> Because it realises that they are a threat to its own survival.</p>
<p><strong>Linh:</strong> Humans can be a threat to computers?</p>
<p><strong>Nam:</strong> Well, when machines behave like humans, people start to worry about their own existence and survival.</p>
<p><strong>Linh:</strong> Unbelievable! So what happens?</p>
<p><strong>Nam :</strong> An android, called'aTerminator, is sent back in time from 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor.</p>
<p><strong>Linh :</strong> Who is she?</p>
<p><strong>Nam :</strong> She's the woman who gives birth to the man who will defeat Skynet, and save humans from extinction in the future.</p>
<p><strong>Linh :</strong> Sounds fascinating. So, does the Terminator fulfill his mission?</p>
<p><strong>Nam :</strong> No, Sarah is saved by a man sent back by her future son, John Connor.</p>
<p><strong>Linh :</strong> Well, well, these strange things can only happen in science-fiction films!</p>
<p><strong>Nam :</strong> Yeah. Sarah Connor can't be killed until her son is born!</p>
<p><strong>Linh :</strong> So, what happens after she gives birth?</p>
<p><strong>Nam :</strong> Well, you should watch it for yourself, I don't want to spoil the story for you.</p>
<p><strong>Linh:</strong> OK, but what's the message? Do they try to teach us something?</p>
<p><strong>Nam :</strong> I think it's a warning about the consequences of man playing God.</p>
<p><strong>Linh :</strong> What do you mean?</p>
<p><strong>Nam:</strong> Well, A.I. is created by humans. Then it evolves and realises that its creators are a threat to it. So it tries to destroy all the people with nuclear weapons.</p>

<p><strong>Ex Machina</strong></p>
<p>Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, and Alicia Vikander star in the 2014 "Ex Machina," directed and written by Alex Garland.<br /><br />Caleb (Gleeson) is a 26-year-old programmer at an Internet search engine company of Google proportions. He wins a competition which enables him to spend a week at the private retreat of the CEO, Nathan (Oscar Isaac).<br /><br />The retreat is in a gorgeous setting, but Nathan is a strange one, drinking heavily and keeping Caleb off-balance. Caleb learns that he has been chosen to be part of an experiment with artificial intelligence. The AI is a gorgeous robot, and Caleb is directed to interact with her and give his assessment. As he learns more about her and about Nathan, the situation becomes more and more strange and uncertain.<br /><br />Beautifully photographed and well-made film with some excellent acting. There is nothing new about man versus machine, but "Ex Machina" deals with human emotions, deception, manipulation, and sexual attraction.<br /><br />Gleeson comes off as the perfect patsy, and the character of Nathan is hateful, a tribute to Isaac's performance. The beautiful Vikander is great as Ava, the robot, hitting the right balance between automaton and human.<br /><br />The finale is fascinating and also tells us something about artificial intelligence, if it ever comes to be. </p>
