<p>The Young Inventor of the year competition is now taking entries. Are you good at making things? Enter this competition! It is open to any child between the ages of 7 and 14. The design must be original. There are a few rules to keep in mind when creating your invention. You can ask for some help from teachers or parents, but the invention must perform a practical function and solve a problem. The aim of your invention must be to make life easier. Remember to make a clear diagram of the invention. You will need to send this in with your signed form, a photograph and a log book describing each stage of your invention. There are two categories, according to age. For the first category, the age group 7-11, there are two prizes of £1,000 and in the second category, for ages 12-14, there is one prize of £1,500. The closing date for competition entries is March 15th next year. Every student who enters this competition receives a personalised certificate of technical awareness and a home inventors’ book.
