<h2><strong>II. Reported speech: Statements</strong></h2>
<p><strong>(Tường thuật câu trần thuật)</strong></p>
<p><strong>1. Khái niệm</strong></p>
<p>Câu tường thuật là câu thuật lại lời nói trực tiếp.</p>
<p>- Lời nói trực tiếp (direct speech): là nói chính xác điều ai đó diễn đạt (còn gọi là trích dẫn). Lời của người nói sẽ được đặt trong dấu ngoặc kép.</p>
<p>Ví dụ: She said ,” The exam is difficult”.</p>
<p>=> "The exam is difficult" là lời nói trực tiếp hay câu trực tiếp.</p>
<p>- Lời nói gián tiếp – câu tường thuật (indirect speech): Là thuật lại lời nói của một người khác dưới dạng gián tiếp, không dùng dấu ngoặc kép.</p>
<p>Ví dụ: Hoa said,” I want to go home” -> "Hoa said she wanted to go home" là câu gián tiếp (indirect speech)</p>
<p><strong>2. Cách chuyển câu trực tiếp sang gián tiếp</strong></p>
<p><strong>Bước 1: Chọn từ tường thuật</strong></p>
<p>Khi chuyển từ câu trực tiếp sang gián tiếp ở câu trần thuật, ta sử dụng 2 động từ trường thuật ”said”” và ”told”. Trong đó:</p>
<p>Ta bắt buộc phải dùng ‘’told’’ khi trong câu trực tiếp xuất hiện người nghe, hoặc có thể thay thế ‘’told’’ bằng ‘’said to’’.</p>
<p>Còn nếu trong câu không có đối tượng nghe thì ta sử dụng ‘’said’’</p>
<p><strong>Ví dụ:</strong></p>
<p>“You are late for school.” Tom said to Lan. <em>(Tom nói với Lan "Bạn trễ học.")</em></p>
<p>=> Tom told Lan that…………./ Tom said to Lan that.</p>
<p>“You are late for school.’’ Tom said. <em>(Tom nói "Bạn trễ học.")</em></p>
<p>=> Tom said that</p>
<p><strong>Bước 2: “Lùi thì’’ động từ trong câu trực tiếp</strong></p>
<p>Để diễn ta lời nói được thuật lại là ở trong quá khứ và có thể không còn đúng ở hiện tại, chúng ta cần phải đưa động từ về thì quá khứ như sau:</p>
